Liberal Democrat leadership candidate Layla Moran has called on the government to urgently publish a second report on measures to protect ethnic minority groups from coronavirus, describing it as "staggering" that it had not been published already.
BBC News today reported that a second report has been drawn up containing proposed measures to better protect BAME groups, but that it remains unpublished. An initial review found that coronavirus was disproportionately impacting ethnic minority groups but was roundly criticised for not including any recommendations to protect these communities.
Liberal Democrat MP Layla Moran commented:
"It is simply staggering that this report has not been published already.
"Ministers must now publish these recommendations without delay and ensure action is taken to better protect ethnic minority communities.
"The government cannot sit on their hands any longer while key workers from BAME communities go out and risk their lives in the fight against coronavirus."
